Ross Perot Jr. Trying to Lock Mavs and Stars Fans Out of Their Parking Spots

Ross Perot Jr., a minority owner in the Dallas Mavericks, has had an ongoing feud with majority owner Mark Cuban. Perot Jr. has repeatedly accused Cuban of mismanaging the Mavs. Cuban responded by filing a brief after the team won the NBA title as a way of saying up yours. Now Ross Perot Jr. is back for more.

Perot Jr. apparently said that a parking agreement between one of his companies and the company that runs American Airlines Center was void. He was trying to keep several season ticket holders from being able to park in their spots during one of the center’s busiest sports weeks of the year. Cuban’s lawyer was able to get the judge to file a temporary restraining order against Perot Wednesday.

The order signed Dec. 21, 2011, by Judge Martin Lowy in Dallas’ 101st District Court was issued the day after the Perot-controlled units announced the lockout plan in a letter delivered to Center Operating Company, the group responsible for operations at the American Airlines Center, home of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and NHL’s Dallas Stars.

“This order makes sure that no Grinch is going to steal Christmas for Mavs and Stars fans,” says attorney Tom Melsheimer of Fish & Richardson in Dallas, who requested the court order on behalf of COC. “Our clients have honored their agreement with Mr. Perot’s companies and we believe they should do the same.”

Look, I don’t know all the details of the agreement (you can read the suit here), but that just crosses me as a dick move. If there’s any way for Cuban to buy him out as a minority owner, he needs to do it.
