Russell Westbrook laughs at question about Steph Curry’s defense

Russell-Westrbook

After posting a triple-double in a blowout Game 4 win over the Golden State Warriors, Russell Westrbook managed another 31 points in his team’s loss on Thursday night. He was a bit less efficient, however, hitting just 11-of-28 shots. Did that have anything to do with Stephen Curry’s defense?

We’ll let Westbrook’s reaction answer that for you.

After the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Game 5 loss, Westbrook was asked if Curry is “underrated as a defender.” All he could do is laugh and let Kevin Durant answer the question.

“I mean, getting steals, that’s a part of playing defense,” Durant said. “He’s pretty good, but he doesn’t guard the best point guards. I think they do a good job of putting a couple guys on Russell from (Klay) Thompson to (Andre) Iguodala. Steph, they throw him in there sometimes. But he moves his feet pretty well, he’s good with his hands. But, you know, I like our matchup with him guarding Russ.”

Westbrook is a huge reason the Thunder have a 3-2 series lead heading back to OKC. He has scored 30 or more points in three straight games and has tallied double-digit assists in all but one game of the Western Conference finals. No one — not even the reigning MVP — has really been able to slow him down.

If you heard what Westbrook said about Curry before the series began, you know he doesn’t want to feed the Warriors star’s ego. Laughing at a question about Curry’s defense is right in line with that.
