Russell Westbrook explains why he won’t be friendly with James Harden on court
Russell Westbrook doesn’t express affection towards opponents when on the basketball court, even if he does off of it.
Westbrook is actually friends with James Harden. The two have known each other on the courts since there days as youths in Los Angeles. Then they became teammates in Oklahoma City before Harden was traded to Houston. This year they’re battling for the NBA MVP award (leading to contention between their teams), and their teams are also meeting in the first round of the playoffs.
But Westbrook won’t be friendly towards Harden on the court, and he explained why.

Westbrook has become popular among fans for his cut-throat, win-at-all-costs attitude. It’s why he’s one of the few contemporary players who has appealed to many of the older generations of ex-players and fans who feel the game has lost its toughness.
Westbrook’s Thunder may not win their playoff series, but many will appreciate his demeanor while doing battle.
