Russell Westbrook wipes out trying to block shots after whistle (Video)

Russell-WestbrookRussell Westbrook should probably refrain from trying to block shots after the whistle — at least until next season. With the playoffs coming up, the last thing the Oklahoma City Thunder need is for their star point guard to end up on the shelf again.

During Sunday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, Westbrook went to great lengths to pull a Kevin Garnett during timeout. He jumped up to goaltend a shot from Paul George before heading off the court with his teammates. When Westbrook saw that George Hill was also taking a practice shot, he sprinted back toward the basket to block that one, too. That’s when he fell right on his ass.

Westbrook’s lucky he didn’t get injured. Blocking shots after the whistle can frustrate an opponent, but it’s not worth risking your body. I’m sure he won’t be trying that again anytime soon.
