Saints owner Tom Benson hospitalized with flu-like symptoms
New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans owner Tom Benson was hospitalized this week and treated for flu-like symptoms, but he is said to be resting comfortably.
The Saints issued a statement on Wednesday updating the health of Benson, who is 90.
“Saints and Pelicans Owner Tom Benson was recently admitted to Ochsner Medical Center. He is currently being treated for flu symptoms and is resting comfortably,” the statement said. “Mr. Benson, who turned 90 in July, has been admitted into the Intensive Care Unit and is receiving the standard, excellent and world-class care that all patients who enter Ochsner Medical Center receive. Mrs. Benson requests and sincerely appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
Benson has owned the Saints since 1985 and the Pelicans since 2012. He has been embraced by the community in New Orleans after he purchased the Saints amid rumors that the team could be moved to Jacksonville.
