Report: Sixers may trade Jahlil Okafor during the summer

Jahlil Okafor

It sounds like the Philadelphia 76ers will be addressing their logjam of young big men during the summer.

According to Keith Pompey of Philly.com, the Sixers are hoping to have a healthy Joel Embiid in 2016-17, but either way, Jahlil Okafor or possibly Nerlens Noel could be on their way out of Philadelphia.

According to Pompey, Okafor and Embiid are viewed as similar players, and if the latter comes back, the former will likely be moved. If they’re not confident in the health of Embiid, however, the team will likely decide between Okafor and Noel.

Considering the Sixers reportedly engaged in trade talks around Okafor at the deadline, this isn’t a huge surprise. They have too many young, talented players in their frontcourt, especially if they have a healthy Embiid in the mix. He has the chance to become a very good player, so expect there to be plenty of suitors if Philadelphia does put him on the market.

Okafor has been involved in a number of off-court incidents since he was drafted, one of which was a fight outside a nightclub. You can see a video from that night here.
