Report: Spurs hire ex-Cavs GM to serve as scout
Former Cleveland Cavaliers GM Chris Grant appears to have his first gig back in the NBA in a few years.
Grant, who served as the Cavs’ GM until being fired in Feb. 2014, has been hired as a scout for the San Antonio Spurs, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes.
Grant was an assistant GM for the Cavs from 2005-2010. He was then promoted to GM and served in that position from 2010-2014.
LeBron James was not with the Cavs during his GM tenure, which made the job difficult. His draft record includes successes like Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson, and bust Anthony Bennett.
