Steph Curry: All Star draft will ‘definitely’ be on TV next year

Stephen Curry

At least two NBA players want the league to televise the All-Star draft next year, and one says the league “definitely” will do so.

Steph Curry and LeBron James got to serve as captains and pick their All-Star teams in a draft format. The Golden State Warriors star thinks the draft would be “amazing” to watch on TV and that the league will “definitely” televise it.

“I think the draft itself would be amazing on TV just to hear the back-and-forth between the captains and see how the teams fill out,” Curry told ESPN. “But we have to protect our guys [dignity]. That’s the biggest thing.

“It’s definitely going to be on [TV] next year. And if that’s the case, the next steps will be figuring out how to establish a respectful process that doesn’t expose the players to unnecessary taunts.”

ESPN’s Chris Haynes revealed that Al Horford and LaMarcus Aldridge were the last picks in the draft. Despite the seeming ridicule of being picked last, Horford told ESPN he thinks the draft should be televised for the entertainment factor. And he doesn’t feel embarrassment about being a last pick because he recognizes it is already a huge honor to simply make the All-Star team at all.

In addition to knowing the last picks, we also know that Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant were the first picks.
