Steph Curry: SI leaving Colin Kaepernick off cover was ‘terrible’

SI divided cover

Stephen Curry is not at all happy with SI’s recent cover that features him in the middle along with several other prominent sports figures. The main reason is because it omits the man who started the kneeling movement — Colin Kaepernick.

This week’s Sports Illustrated features Curry in the middle, interlocking arms with Roger Goodell and LeBron James. Other notable outspoken sports figures like Warriors head coach Steve Kerr are also on the cover, along with Michael Bennett and Bruce Maxwell — two athletes who have kneeled for the anthem.

Curry first expressed his disappointment with the cover when he commented on a Warriors Talk Instagram account and said “booo” about Kaepernick not being on the cover.

Asked about the matter by the media on Wednesday, and Curry said the Kaepernick omission was “terrible.”

Curry said last week that he would not visit the White House when the Warriors were invited to be honored for winning the NBA title. After being rejected, President Donald Trump said he was rescinding the Warriors’ invitation.
