Steve Kerr confirms Stephen Curry will be back in starting lineup Game 3

Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry came off the bench in his first game back with the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, but the performance he turned in proved he does not need to stick with that role going forward.

Curry scored 28 points and made 5-of-10 shots from 3-point range in a Game 2 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, and Warriors coach Steve Kerr confirmed on Wednesday that the two-time MVP will be back in the starting lineup for Game 3.

“Oh yeah, yeah. He’ll start Game 3,” Kerr told Damon Bruce of 95.7 The Game. “You don’t keep a guy like that on the bench for long … now that the focus shifts and there’s a few days until the next game, he’s gonna play a few more minutes — so he’ll be in the starting lineup.”

Curry’s 28 points came in just 27 minutes of action, so his sprained MCL looked plenty healthy. Nick Young, who started the first two games in Curry’s place, has not been nearly as effective, scoring just six points in Game 1 and three points in a reduced role on Tuesday.

Warriors fans let Curry know just how much they missed him when he checked into Game 2, and his return to the starting lineup on Friday night will be another welcome sight.
