Stephen Curry responds to Kevin Durant’s shot at Under Armour

Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant may share a common goal on the basketball court, but their respective business interests are a very different story.

In a recent appearance on “The Bill Simmons Podcast,” Durant, a notable Nike endorser, took a shot at Under Armour’s shoes, which are endorsed by Curry.

“Nobody wants to play in [them],” Durant said of the UA shoes.

Over the weekend, it was Curry’s turn to respond, and he revealed that he had to speak with Durant to clear the air over the comments but insisted that the issue would not affect them heading into the 2017-18 season.

“This is nothing that is going to put a wrench in the locker room,” Curry told Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer. “I told him that he has a certain opinion based on his experience growing up in the Nike business.

“What that means when it comes to the competition among shoe brands and universities and the whole grassroots system and whatnot – he’s entitled to that opinion obviously,” he continued. “But when it comes to what I’m trying to do with Under Armour, and what the Curry brand means and what Under Armour basketball means, that statement does not ring true at all.”

While the Internet would likely side with Durant here, he and Curry seemed to develop good chemistry in their championship-winning first year together, so hopefully any competition they have off the court will indeed be a non-issue.
