Stephen Curry out for Game 3, only ‘slight chance’ for Game 4
Stephen Curry will have to wait until at least Game 4 of his team’s series against the Portland Trail Blazers to make his return to the Golden State Warriors’ starting lineup.
During an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” Friday, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said Curry has been ruled out for Saturday night’s game. Kerr gave the reigning NBA MVP only a “slight chance” of returning for Game 4.
“If he’s ready to play, he’ll play,” Kerr said. “That’s based on what the trainers tell me and what we see with our own eyes. He hasn’t practiced with us yet … He’s getting better every day but until he’s out on the floor with our team and we see him move and the trainers say he’s good to go, we’ll just keep doing what we’re doing.”
Curry underwent plasma treatment on his knee a couple days after he sprained his MCL against the Houston Rockets (video here), but the Warriors have no reason to rush him back. They have a 2-0 lead over the Blazers and Klay Thompson has stepped up in a big way. Until they get into trouble, there’s no reason to risk Curry reinjuring himself.
