Steve Kerr told his players how happy he was to have a close game (Video)

The Oklahoma City Thunder pushed the Golden State Warriors a bit more than they’re used to on Saturday night, and Warriors coach Steve Kerr was quite pleased with that.

During a timeout, Kerr told his players, “about time we got a close game to play in.”

The Warriors have generally been beating teams by double digits. On this night, however, the game was tied with under four minutes left, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson weren’t having their best nights, and Kevin Durant was going off for 40 points. Despite all of that, Golden State still won, 116-108.

It can’t hurt the Warriors to be a bit battle tested, though they were already dealing with the fact that Curry had essentially guaranteed a win in this game. The Thunder played well and the Warriors didn’t have their sharpest night and they still won by eight. No wonder Durant may want to join up with them.
