Report: Thunder interested in trading for Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony seems like he has only one team in mind that he is willing to waive his no-trade clause for, but are the Oklahoma City Thunder hoping they can convince him to make it two?

Bill Simmons of The Ringer reported on Monday that the Thunder are interested in trying to acquire Anthony.

The Thunder have already given Russell Westbrook another pure scorer to play alongside when they traded for Paul George, so they might not have enough shots to go around if they add Anthony. Then again, Carmelo is reportedly intent on playing for the Houston Rockets, and they have a similar situation with James Harden and Chris Paul.

Anthony is said to be willing to sacrifice a good amount of money to help facilitate a trade to Houston. We know he wants to play for a contender, but he also has expressed a desire to remain close to his 10-year-old son in New York. Would he be willing to go as far as OKC?

One other potential trade suitor for Anthony emerged over the weekend, but Houston still seems like the most likely destination. It will be interesting to see if the Thunder can make things interesting.
