Report: Top Mikhail Prokhorov advisor leaving Nets

After clinching the worst record in the NBA for the 2016-17 season and not even having a high lottery pick to show for it, the Brooklyn Nets got another gut punch of sorts on Wednesday.

Chris Mannix of The Vertical reports that Irina Pavlova, a top advisor to billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov and one of the NBA’s highest ranking female executives, will be leaving the Nets next month.

It’s yet another blow to Prokhorov, who in recent years has been hit by power plays, suspicions of shady side deals, and hundreds of millions in lost revenue as the Nets have compiled 122 losses and counting over the last two seasons.

Mannix adds that Pavlova, who has served as an American-based liaison for Brooklyn’s Russian-based ownership group since 2010, is in the loop on everything from business to basketball operations with the Nets. She also serves on the team’s board of directors, so it is indeed a big-time loss for them.
