Tyronn Lue regrets not giving LeBron James the ball more in Game 3 loss

Tyronn Lue

The Cleveland Cavaliers lost their first game of the playoffs Saturday night, and coach Tyronn Lue believes he’s at least partially at fault.

With Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love both struggling, LeBron James took just 17 shots, and Lue blamed himself for not drawing up more plays to get him the ball.

“I think I should have called more plays to make [James] dominant,” Lue said Sunday, via ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. “I think we continued to run plays that had been effective and working throughout the course of this series, knowing that Kyrie and Kevin could get going at any time. I should have put the ball in LeBron’s hands a little bit more to let him create and let him draw double teams. So that was more on me.”

The Cavaliers have not been as reliant on James to score this postseason, but with Irving and Love both faltering, the best plan may have been to get him the ball and get out of the way.

All in all, it wasn’t a great night for LeBron. He went down after getting hit by his own teammate and then he got trolled by Drake. Perhaps the evening could have been better with a slightly different gameplan.
