Tyronn Lue: Warriors are team to beat in NBA
Tyronn Lue disagrees with Kyrie Irving about who is the team to beat in the NBA.
Irving said on Thursday that the Cavaliers were the team to beat in the NBA even though they lost to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, and the Warriors are looking even better this season. However, Lue, the team’s head coach, is saying publicly that the Dubs are the team to beat.
“Our team is very confident,” Tyronn Lue said Friday via Cleveland.com. “When he says the team to beat, I would say the team to beat in the East. I wouldn’t say overall because Golden State won the championship last year so they’re the team to beat and they have the best record in the NBA right now. We’re confident we can get things done.”
There is nothing wrong with Irving being confident in his team and feeling like they are the best in the league, but it doesn’t make sense to call the Cavs the team to beat when they are still challenging the defending champs. At least Lue recognizes that.
And if the Cavs really were the team to beat, then LeBron James probably would not be playing all the games he has been about teaming up with other players.
