Nate Robinson Pays Homage to T.O., Cowboys Cheerleaders in Dunk Contest

Knicks guard Nate Robinson won the slam dunk competition Saturday night in Dallas, marking his third straight victory in the competition. That last word is perhaps misplaced since it really wasn’t much of a competition. DeMar DeRozan had a sweet dunk following his teammate’s pass off the backboard but other than that, the contest lacked quite a sparkle. There were no true stars in the contest and none of the participants knew how to really work the crowd. Except for Robinson. As you can see on his winning dunk, he involved the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders and then paid homage to former Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens. Here’s a video of Nate Robinson’s winning dunk:

I’d feel a lot better about Robinson’s win and showmanship if he weren’t such a jerk on the court. The guy seems to constantly be in the doghouse with coach Mike D’Antoni for his lack of discipline. Just making a tribute to a guy like T.O. tells you about Robinson’s personality; Owens is one of the most egotistical, self-centered athletes around. The two fit in well together.
