Report: Warriors were told foul would have been called if Steph Curry missed
The Golden State Warriors on Thursday night completed one of the greatest fourth-quarter comebacks you will ever see, and they sent the game to overtime on an incredible 3-pointer from Stephen Curry with seconds left in regulation. Curry was also fouled.
As LB mentioned previously, the Warriors were reportedly told that a foul would have been called if Curry’s shot did not go in.
According to a couple sources, the explanation the Warriors received was that Curry would’ve gotten the foul if he had missed the 3

Is that supposed to make the Warriors feel that the game was officiated fairly? Had they not gone on to win in overtime, would the league admit that Golden State got cheated out of a chance to end the game in regulation with a four-point play? I highly doubt it.
New Orleans Pelicans coach Monty Williams tried to get his team to foul Curry before he put the shot up, but they fouled him on the shot instead. They were fortunate it wasn’t called, or there probably would have been no overtime. Curry is 90 percent from the line in his career.
Assuming Thompson’s sources are correct, the NBA needs to address this. Waiting to see if a shot goes in before deciding to call a foul is not a good look for the league. It can still very much affect the outcome of a game.
