Warriors owner Joe Lacob slept with championship trophy
Joe Lacob’s vision when he bought the Golden State Warriors five years ago finally paid off in June when the team won the NBA championship, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games.
For Lacob, the championship was the culmination of a lot of hard work, and it validated the vision and plan he had for the team. It also gave him the opportunity to do many unspeakable things with the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
“I had made a promise to myself [that] I would sleep with the trophy that night,” Lacob said to Haute Living. “Nicole [Curran, his longtime fiancée] and I did sleep with it.
“I’ll leave it to the imagination. We had a lot of fun with it.”
OK, that’s kind of gross and not something we want to use our imagination for. We’ve seen some good uses of championship trophies before, especially with the Stanley Cup. We’ve also seen Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban get a little too personal with the championship trophy. But doing things in bed with it? That’s just a subject we’d prefer not to hear more about.
