Amir Khan waiting on Floyd Mayweather to sign contract for fight

Amir Khan Floyd Mayweather

Amir Khan has been tabbed as the likely next opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr., and the Brit says he has even signed a contract for the fight. The only problem is he is waiting on Floyd to sign the deal.

“I am the one who signed the contract, I’ve signed my part of the contract, they’ve not signed theirs,” Khan told the Daily Mail. “If he wants to fight Amir Khan then he should sign it.”

Mayweather is scheduled to fight on May 3 in Las Vegas, but his opponent has not yet been announced.

Earlier this month, the Khan-Mayweather fight was said to be a done deal, with an announcement likely to come in the near future. It’s been weeks since then, making us wonder what’s going on.

In recent weeks, Floyd has been on a publicity campaign. He took a shot at Manny Pacquiao in his “Christmas card,” and then he took shots at Pac-Man, Khan and Marcos Maidana, all of whom are considered to be his potential opponents.

Is Floyd balking at signing his contract with Khan because he is exploring the possibilities of fighting Maidana or Manny? I think he is just waiting for the right time to sign the deal and make the announcement. All of his recent crap talking over social media has helped build some buzz around his next opponent, so it’s natural for him to make an announcement soon. I think the delay is just a matter of timing.
