Floyd Mayweather says he does not miss boxing ‘at all’

Floyd Mayweather smiling

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has retired from boxing, and he has no intention of making a comeback. In fact, the undefeated five-division world champion does not even miss the sport.

At a news conference Monday announcing Adrian Broner’s junior welterweight title defense against Mayweather protege Ashley Theophane, Floyd was asked if he will ever get back into the ring.

“I was able to retire from the sport with all my faculties and not let the sport retire me,” he told reporters, per The Associated Press.

Does he miss fighting?

“No, not at all. Not at all. I’m blessed,” Mayweather said, adding that he does not even spar anymore. “I’m a lot older now. Next year, my son will be going to college. I had a great run. … Ain’t no more wear-and-tear on this body. This body [has] got to rest.”

Mayweather said he now gets his fix of fighting through the boxers he promotes. You might think Mayweather is being coy when you read this report about a potential megafight rematch, but we doubt that is going to happen. And age 39, with a perfect record and having defeated Manny Pacquiao, there isn’t much left for Mayweather to prove.
