Gennady Golovkin wants Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto

Gennady Golovkin

Gennady Golovkin thrilled fans with his performance in the ring Saturday night against Willie Monroe, and he continued to please them with his comments in his post-fight interview.

Golovkin, who improved to 33-0 with 30 knockouts, was asked by HBO’s Max Kellerman whom he wants to face next. GGG said he was open to fighting anyone and that he especially wanted to unify all the middleweight belts. That would mean fighting Miguel Cotto.

He also was asked by Kellerman about facing Canelo Alvarez in the future. Golovkin is game.

“Not for future … right now I’m ready to beat … I’m ready to Canelo to Miguel. Great champions. Guys, I’m ready right now,” he said in his interview.

Golovkin said he would take on Canelo and Cotto and then face Andre Ward.

As if Golovkin wasn’t already enough of a fan favorite, the man said in his interview that he tried to give Monroe a shot to hit him after the second round in order to give the fans a better show.

“Max, first of all, I showed him who is No. 1. Who is the real champ. Second, I gave him a chance. I stay here, just come on, bring big drama show, let’s do it. I don’t lose control. This is my big present.”

He said he didn’t want to end the fight in just five minutes, which is why he let Monroe back in.

“Today Saturday night, this is not five minutes. A lot of people come … I show my people a show. My show is a present.”

He won’t have to worry about letting his opponents have a shot next time because if he faces Cotto or Canelo, those will be dangerous enough.

Boxing fans cannot wait to see whom he fights next. And if you haven’t seen his three knockdowns Saturday, watch them here.
