Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. tells his corner to stop fight (Video)

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. told his corner to stop his fight with Andrzej Fonfara after the ninth round Saturday at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., because of problems with his leg.

Though Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32 KOs) tried to pass it off after the loss like he thought he still could have won, a video aired by Showtime after the fight showed that he asked his corner to call the bout. Sorry, Junior, but the camera don’t lie.

We certainly know the fans were unhappy with the early stoppage. They became “unruly” according to Showtime’s announcers and video showed them throwing beers:

Chavez Sr. was against the fight in the entire lead-up to Saturday and his concerns proved to be completely founded; his son was completely overmatched.

After watching Chavez Jr.’s behavior in this fight, it’s no wonder Freddie Roach has had fits with him.
