Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao officially filed his paperwork to run for the senate in his native Philippines Friday.

The 36-year-old superstar boxer is currently a member of the House of Representatives in the Philippines and looking to expand his political career.

Pacquiao released a statement announcing his intended political plans, which focuses on aiding the poor. Part of his platform includes pushing for free public schools up to the college level and increased protection for Filipino workers overseas, according to The Daily Mail.

He added he would push for free public schools up to college level and increase protection for Filipino workers overseas.

Because of his age and intended political plans, Pacquiao is approaching the end of his boxing career. Pac-Man, who is 57-6-2 with 38 knockouts, plans to fight one last time early in 2016 before likely hanging up the gloves for good. He has talked with Floyd Mayweather Jr. about a potential rematch, though more signs point to a bout with Amir Khan.
