Mark Sanchez thinks reporter confused him for Tim Tebow (Video)

ESPN played an amusing clip on SportsCenter Thursday night that makes it seem like a reporter confused Mark Sanchez for Tim Tebow. In the clip, a female reporter starts a question to Mark Sanchez as “Tim …” to which Sanchez replies “I’m Mark.”

Some people are saying it was Kim Jones formerly of YES Network and currently of NFL Network who asked the question. There’s no way someone covering the team on a regular basis could have confused the two (it’s not like the Super Bowl where there are a bunch of random reporters who don’t know football asking questions), so that must have been a slip up, or the person asking may have started her question to Sanchez by referencing Tebow. Regardless, the clip is pretty darn funny, especially because Sanchez jumps in so quickly.

Andy Katz says Jared Sullinger has an interesting condition (Video)

If only I were so lucky. No wonder Jared Sullinger’s draft stock plummeted faster than Adam Sandler’s movie career and the Celtics were able to grab him late in the first round. He’s been packing too much heat to play effectively. It makes perfect sense now that he has back issues. Anybody would after years of carrying that extra weight around. I can’t imagine how difficult it is for him to play basketball with not one, but multiple dwarfs having fist fights for space in between his legs.

Obviously this is a slip of the tongue by Andy Katz, but that still doesn’t take away the fact that you now have the image of a couple of dwarfs fighting attached to Jared Sullinger’s crotch. On a side note, this easily has to be one of the best screw-ups we’ve ever featured on the site — and we’ve had some good ones.

White Sox misspell Kevin Youkilis’ name on lineup card (Picture)

Kevin Youkilis made his White Sox debut on Monday after being traded to Chicago by the Red Sox on Sunday. Not everything went smoothly in his first game with the South Siders.

As you can see in the photo above (shared by the White Sox on Twitter), whoever posted the lineup for the White Sox misspelled Youkilis’ last name. The person spelled Youkilis’ last name phonetically and left out the first “I.”

Youk went 1-for-4 in his Chicago debut and had one of his team’s five hits in a 4-1 loss to the Twins. It wasn’t a strong debut, but given that Adam Dunn took a golden sombrero, it was certainly respectable.

Did Sage Steele and Jalen Rose get caught on live TV making plans for a date? (Video)

Now, we want to preface this post by saying that Sage Steele is married and we hope nothing sordid is going on here. But when a live camera during SportsCenter on Friday hilariously cuts to her in Miami looking awfully flirty with a trying-to-play-it-cool Jalen Rose while he makes plans with her to go to popular South Beach restaurant Prime One Twelve, you can’t help but to think some Don Draper business is going on between these two kids. Yes, Lindsay Czarniak. “The magic of television,” indeed.

And for the second time in a week we’re seeing the risk of broadcasting live.

UPDATE: Rose would like the “shock media” to know he and Steele will be two of a handful of colleagues attending the dinner:

Sounds more fun than ESPN’s NBA Finals pregame show.

KTLA reporter said Kings parade was ‘Lakers victory parade’ (Video)

The Kings just don’t seem to be able to get any respect in Los Angeles. Whether it’s local TV stations using the wrong Kings mascot or team logo during telecasts, there has been an ongoing struggle with the LA media to get things straight.

On Thursday, KTLA tossed live to a helicopter for a traffic report and the reporter talked about covering the “Lakers victory parade.” I’m sure he was just saying that out of habit considering the Lakers have won five titles since 2000, but the parade was for the Kings, which actually won a championship and didn’t lose in the second round of the playoffs.

You gotta do better than that.

SportsCenter anchor says Manny Pacquiao lost to Avery Bradley (Video)

Kevin Connors and Adnan Virk were hosting ESPN’s SportsCenter on Saturday night following the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley fight, and one of them screwed up big time during the intros. Whomever was voicing over the intro before the show began said that Manny Pacquiao was upset by Avery Bradley. I guess the anchor had basketball on the mind, because Avery Bradley is a Celtics player. Pacquiao fought and lost to Timothy Bradley. But hey, who’s keeping track?

NBA Store was selling a ‘Beat the Heat’ NBA Finals Thunder T-shirt (Picture)

It looks like the NBA Store jumped the gun yet again. For a brief period on Friday evening, a “Beat the Heat” Oklahoma City Thunder T-shirt (pictured above) was being sold on NBA.com. If you look carefully, you’ll notice an NBA Finals logo at the bottom of the shirt.

Even though the Thunder have already clinched a spot in the Finals, the problem is their opponent hasn’t been determined. The Heat and Celtics play Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals on Saturday, so there’s no point for Thunder fans to already concentrate on beating the Heat.

For more context, it looks like the NBA Store has been offering shirts that target the Thunder’s specific opponents throughout the playoffs. In a Google cache of the NBA store URL offering the shirt (the link no longer works), the title of the shirt is “adidas Oklahoma City Thunder BEAT LA T-Shirt.” Take a look below:
