DB Dexter Reid Arrested on Drug and Gun Charges

Make it two members of the Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl champion team who have been arrested since the Colts victory early February. Recently released DB Dexter Reid was arrested Sunday.

Reid, a Norfolk native, was driving a black 2004 GMC SUV when he was pulled over at 4:32 a.m. in the city, police spokesman Sgt. Brian Ricardo said. While officers were investigating, they found a hangdun and marijuana in the vehicle, Ricardo said. Reid, 26, was cooperative with officers, who charged him with first-offense possession of a concealed weapon and with a felony charge of possession of marijuana.

The other member of the Colts Super Bowl team to be arrested was RB Dominic Rhodes, who recently pleaded guilty to drunken driving charges since signing with the Raiders.

I guess the only bright side here is that the players waited until the off-season before becoming delinquent, unlike certain other teams.

And to think, this guy has more rings than Peyton Manning — crazy.

Don’t Let Kenneth John Gibson Coach Your Kid in Soccer

What is it with people sometimes? I just don’t get it. The lawyer for the man soon-to-be-mentioned says he’s a law-abiding banker with no criminal history. Is that so? Then what the heck is up with him trading child porn???

Kenneth John Gibson was arrested by FBI agents Friday. Investigators say he possessed sexually explicit images of children as young as three. The FBI says Gibson admitted to agents earlier this month that he had traded child porn online.

To think, this freakazoid was coaching kids in soccer! Imagine, all those times he was running kids through cone drills he was picturing your son naked.

Three year olds? Three year olds dude? What about three year olds could possibly turn a man in his forties on?

The best part is the lawyer’s solution is for Gibson to see a psychologist. Yeah, I’m sure that’ll take care of it. That’s the effin problem with our legal system — the lawyer doing a great job would result in a serious disservice for the country.

Texas CB Tarell Brown sure Loves his Weed

Man, what do you do after a long hard week of workouts for NFL teams as you’re preparing yourself for the biggest step of your life — potentially playing professional football? Answer: you smoke a blunt and just chiillll. Well at least that’s what Texas CB Tarell Brown allegedly did,

Former defensive back Tarell Brown was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges in Williamson County Thursday night.

Brown was out on bond Friday and awaits a drug test next week.

Two days ago he tried out for NFL scouts at UT’s Pro Timing Day, hoping to up their draft stock before April 28.

Of course I would be remiss if I did not mention that this is the same Tarell Brown who was arrested for carrying a 9mm gun and two ounces of marijuana the week of the Texas/Ohio St. game last year.

And yes, he survived two taser shocks that night.

Needless to say, the Bengals already have a phone call into his agent.

Jaguars OL Khalif Barnes Thinks Jacksonville is Racist

From the Florida Times-Union via the excellence that is Ben Maller, comes this story that Jaguars OL Khalif Barnes blasted the police and city of Jacksonville following his drunken driving arrest in November (he apparently had a blood-alcohol level of .12). Here’s some of what he said in his tirade:

“This is unbelievable, man, unbelievable being a pro athlete in Jacksonville. I can’t wait to get out of here. Can’t wait,” Barnes said while handcuffed in the back of a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office patrol car. “Especially if you’re black.”

About 20 minutes later, still in the patrol car, he said, “Of all the places in the — world that I came to this — hick town. They — hate us here.

“Why you even want to have a pro team here? What’s the use? They don’t even — respect you.”

And this might take the cake:

Though he never threatened the officer, he repeatedly blamed his arrest on racism and called Cullen a “KKK devil that hates all colored people.” He accused Cullen of arresting him “just because I’m a Jaguar.”

Like Mel Gibson, alcohol leaks the true feelings of a person (yeah, you know you’ve drunk-dialed your ex and then regretted it the next day). But on another point…

I would say I would be shocked if this didn’t reflect the thoughts of many other players. Regardless, his BAC was over the state’s limit, and unless someone forced a beerbong down his throat, he’s responsible for his levels of alcohol consumption.

Therefore, shut your effin’ trap Khalif Barnes. Do you know how many people die each year because of drunken driving? Do you have any idea about the severity of this issue? You should’ve realized you were completely in the wrong, acting illegally, and endangering EVERYONE on the road at the same time as you.

I will conclude on this point: drunken driving has no race.

Thank goodness the cops pulled you over and stopped a collision before it occurred.

NFL Needs to Cut Ties with Pacman Jones

When my last post on the freakin’ guy required a full paragraph worth of background material to explain all his run-ins with the law, you know things aren’t going well. When my last post on the freakin’ guy was about a drug dealer (who makes his living by selling illegal products) advising Pacman and recognizing that Jones was on the wrong track, you know things aren’t going well. So when the guy is in the news once again, this time for being the victim of a threat at a bowling alley, you know it’s been enough.

How much trouble does this guy need to be involved in before you finally say enough? How many negative stories does he need to be associated with in order for the NFL to step up and kick him out of the league? Aren’t you tired of hearing about all his problems? Haven’t you gotten sick of all the disgusting stories tied to this guy? You HAVE to be — because I’m certainly tired of writing about his issues.

The problem is that you can’t put any pressure on the Titans. What good would it do to have them cut Pacman? By cutting Pacman, the Titans would then make him available for another twenty teams salivating for an above-average cornerback who doubles as an excellent punt-returner. This is certainly not the answer.

The only solution is for the NFL to step up, declare they have had enough of this clown, and ultimately kick him out of the league rendering him useless to everyone but the CFL and Arena League. End of story.

Bottom line, it’s time to terminate the Pacman and declare him one of the biggest wastes of talent ever.

Incoming USC PG OJ Mayo Busted for Marijuana Charges

I guess when you’re a highly touted athlete from West Virginia, you have no choice but to follow in the footsteps of fellow West Virginia natives Jason Williams and Randy Moss — maybe it’s some sort of initiation process. WANE TV in Huntington West Virginia reports that

O-J Mayo was among four males cited on misdemeanor marijuana possession charges in Huntington, West Virginia, late last night. Cabell County Sheriff’s Deputy Doug Adams says the driver had a small amount of marijuana on him and there was marijuana in a spare set of shoes in the back of the car.

That’s a nice start to Mayo’s career. Between this and the facebook group controversy, I’d say the Trojans are having a heck of a week.

Now who’s going to go ask him about it on his myspace page?

Chest bump for commentor JS on the tip.

UPDATE: The citation has been dismissedtwo dudes from Mayo’s entourage fessed up two of the men he was with took responsibility for the marijuana

Tom Gamboa Attacker Organized Drive-By Shooting

You remember that insane attack on Royals coach Tom Gamboa back in ’02 by the insane father and son team?  To refresh your memory, William Ligue Jr. who was 34 at the time, and his son Michael Ligue who was 15 at the time, jumped onto the field in the middle of a Royals/White Sox game and attacked first base coach Tom Gamboa, leaving him with cuts and bruises.  The Ligues were charged with aggravated battery, with son Michael being charged on two juvenile counts of battery because he also hit a security guard.  Now that you have the background, the news I tell you about next should not come as a surprise.  Apparently son Michael Ligue plotted a drive-by shooting in Chicago Ridge

Ligue, now 19, his 18-year-old girlfriend and three other friends are charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 1 felony that carries up to 15 years in prison. Judge Colleen McSweeney Moore set bail at $200,000 for Ligue. The teen was free on bond on a January cannabis charge.

How’s the father doing you ask?

William Ligue Jr., 39, remains in state prison on a 57-month sentence for violating his original probationary sentence. He is slated for release in June, according to the prison’s Web site.

Now that’s some quality parenting.  And shame on me…I thought the son was entering his freshman year at Harvard following the quality tutelage of his father.  What was I thinking?
