Colorado DT Samson Kafovalu reportedly knocked over brick wall when he was denied access to a party

brick-wallStrength was almost certainly one of the main reasons Colorado recruited defensive tackle Samson Kafovalu out of high school, but the Buffaloes coaching staff may not have known just how strong the freshman is. Have you ever heard of someone tell you a person is capable of running through a brick wall if you make them angry enough? Kafovalu has reportedly turned that expression into a reality.

According to The Daily Camera, the 19-year-old freshman was ticketed by Boulder police on Friday night after officers say he tried to force his way into a frat party. A police report says Kafovalu was told by a security guard at the Kappa Sigma fraternity that he was not on the list for the event. The guard said he shouted and tried to force his way in before yelling, “Don’t (expletive) do this (expletive), I’ll (expletive) kill you.”

But that’s hardly the best part. The police report also stated that Kafovalu bumped into a short brick wall and knocked part of it over while his friends were trying to push him back. He reportedly caused $300 worth of damage.

Not surprisingly, the 250-pounder was discovered to be intoxicated after blowing a .120 on a breathalyzer. He was allowed to leave the scene but issued a summons on charges of threatening bodily injury, trespassing, consumption of alcohol by a minor and use of fighting words.

Odds are the wall he knocked over probably had some structural issues to begin with, but we like to think he barreled right through it, leaving nothing but a silhouette of his body as he came out the other side. Yeah, that’s how it happened.

Raiders DT Desmond Bryant has incredibly classic mug shot after arrest (Picture)

Desmond-Bryant-mug-shot

Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Desmond Bryant was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief on Sunday, and as a result we have one of the most legendary mug shots of all time.

In case you care, Bryant allegedly went into a neighbor’s house drunk in Miami and caused a disturbance. The story is hardly as interesting as his mug shot, which there are really no words to describe.

Raiders enthusiast Victor Cotto shared the photo on Twitter on Monday afternoon and referred to the post as “McClain mugging,” which is a reference to the awesome smile linebacker Rolando McClain flashed during one of his many run-ins with the law several years ago. Personally, I’d put Bryant’s “derp” face in a class of it’s own.

Nobody should be happier than Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton, who prior to Monday gave us easily the most entertaining mug shot in recent history. That honor now belongs to Bryant, who has cemented his place in the mug shot hall of fame.

Da’Quan Bowers reportedly arrested for carrying gun at airport

Da'Quan BowersTampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Da’Quan Bowers was arrested at LaGuardia Airport Monday morning for illegally carrying a gun, NBC New York reports.

NBC New York says Bowers was arrested at the check-in desk after being found with a gun in his carry-on bag.

Bowers, a second-round pick from Clemson in 2011, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and is set to appear in court Monday night. Bowers appeared in 10 games last season for the Bucs, registering 13 tackles and three sacks.

Who can really blame Bowers in this circumstance? I mean who hasn’t been caught trying to sneak a pistol onto a plane in their carry-on bag? It’s just among the usual carry-on belongings — magazines, iPod, snacks, drinks — and a gun.

Come on, Da’Quan, you’re better than that.

Todd Helton’s mug shot after DUI arrest was a sight to behold (Picture)

Todd Helton mug shot

Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton is in the headlines this week, but it’s not for anything baseball-related.

Helton, who is 39 and at the end of his career, was arrested Wednesday morning nearby his home in Thornton, Colo., on suspicion of driving under the influence. His DUI is not what is captivating the minds of America; it’s the amazing mug shot that has everyone fascinated.

Just look at Helton in that shot. Face all chubby, triple chin visible. His hair is all tossed around. One collar is flipped out and the other tucked in. Not to mention he’s so messed up he can’t even open his eyes for the picture. Guy looks awful.

Ordinarily we’d scold Helton for driving drunk and putting the lives of others in danger, but that mug shot is enough to sufficiently embarrass him for his actions.

You can read his apology he provided to The Denver Post.

Cowboys DT Jay Ratliff gets DWI month after teammate killed in drunken crash

Jay-Ratliff-mugshotDallas Cowboys defensive tackle Jay Ratliff was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated early Tuesday morning after his Ford truck struck an 18-wheeler in Grapevine, Texas. Police senior officer Sam Shemwell told NFL.com that Ratliff was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not injured.

Ratliff was reportedly arrested after officers arrived at the scene and determined he was intoxicated and responsible for the crash. He was arraigned and released on bond on Tuesday morning. He reportedly refused a breathalyzer but police received a search warrant to draw blood. The results of the blood test are pending.

While it is alarming any time a professional athlete who has so much going for him gets arrested for a DWI, it is even more disturbing that Ratliff’s arrest comes just a month after one of his teammates, Jerry Brown, was killed in an alcohol-related car crash. Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent was driving the car and faces up to 20 years in prison after being charged with intoxication manslaughter.

As Around the League pointed out, a Cowboys team consultant said that the team was looking into setting players up with a breath analyzer device for their cars following the Brown tragedy. With the amount of money NFL players make and the amount of services teams make available for them, you would think they would be aware of how much they have to lose and not get behind the wheel of a car while drunk. The fact that Ratliff may have chosen to do so just a month after his teammate was killed has to be disappointing for Jerry Jones and company.

Kenny Britt sought by police for questioning over brother’s stabbing

kenny brittKenny Britt is being sought by New Jersey police for questioning regarding an incident that led to his brother being stabbed Saturday night, The Tennessean reports.

According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, the Titans wide receiver dropped off his brother at a hospital Sunday morning but was uncooperative with police. Police believe Britt was at the scene where his brother was stabbed.

The stab wound reportedly is on his brother’s back by his left arm and not considered a life-threatening injury.

According to The Tennessean, police were called to a party in Jersey City at 3:28 a.m. because of a reported stabbing that occurred during a fight. When police arrived, they found nothing wrong. They were later informed that Britt brought his brother into the hospital with a stab wound, leading them to believe Britt was involved. Police also say a gun shot rang out from the same place where the stabbing took place. The shot reportedly was fired after Britt went back to the house to pick up his girlfriend.

“They were all involved in an altercation. So they all knew each other and what was going on,’’ Jersey City Police Capt. Edgar Martinez told The Tennessean. “That’s why we want to talk to him. He was involved in the incident, both incidents. He was there during that time period. So we are looking to speak to him.”

Britt shared a photo of his brother on his Instagram account Sunday:

Milton Bradley charged with domestic abuse, facing 13 years in prison

milton bradley marinersMilton Bradley has been charged with domestic abuse against his estranged wife and reportedly is facing up to 13 years in prison if convicted on all 13 charges.

You may recall that Bradley was arrested in Sept. 2011 for allegedly swinging a bat at his wife. A month later it was revealed that his wife says Bradley threatened to kill her during that incident.

Bradley was also charged with domestic violence in Jan. 2011. His wife filed a domestic violence last Nov., claiming that Milton tried choking her.

According to TMZ, the city has filed charges against Bradley related to five separate incidents. These are the charges he’s reportedly facing:

    - 4 counts of spousal battery
    - 4 counts of criminal threats
    - 2 counts of assault with a deadly weapon
    - 2 counts of vandalism
    - 1 count of dissuading a witness from making a report

The only good news is that both parties have filed for divorce, so hopefully they will avoid future incidents. Though, if Bradley ends up in jail, the only incidents he’ll be dealing with will be in prison.
