Milton Bradley convicted of spousal abuse, faces 7 years in prison

milton-bradleyFormer MLB outfielder Milton Bradley was convicted of nine counts of physically attacking and threatening his estranged wife on Monday. According to the LA Times, prosecutors said the 35-year-old was found guilty of four counts of spousal battery, two counts of criminal threats, one count of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of vandalism and one count of brandishing a deadly weapon.

After being convicted, Bradley was taken into custody and held on $250,000 bail. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 2 and could face more than seven years in prison.

Bradley and his wife have been married for five years but are currently separated. She has a restraining order against him that stems from several incidents of alleged violence. During one, Bradley’s wife claims he threatened to shoot and kill her. He was also arrested for allegedly swinging a baseball bat at her over a year ago.

In November 2012, authorities said Bradley pushed his wife against a wall and choked her with his hands after she asked that he stop smoking marijuana in front of their children. Prior to that incident, in March 2012, Bradley threatened his wife with a knife and allegedly told her, “You’ll be dead, bitch, before you divorce me.” He also allegedly kicked his wife in the ribs in August 2012 after she fell to the floor during an argument.

Bradley obviously has a massive issue with anger management, and we have seen evidence of it on the baseball field as well. If even half of what his wife alleges is true, the world is a safer place with Milton Bradley behind bars.

Seahawks G John Moffitt was reportedly banned from mall, returned and was caught urinating in parking lot

John-Moffitt-SeahawksSeattle Seahawks offensive guard John Moffitt may need a lesson on what the word “banned” means. According to Seattle PI, the 32-pound offensive guard was banned from Bellevue Square mall — and all properties owned by the same company — for one year starting on Jan. 21, 2012 because of unspecified incidents he was involved with. He decided to return to the mall five months later anyway, and was not exactly discreet about it.

On June 14, 2012, Bellevue Square security allegedly caught Moffitt urinating near a vehicle parked in the mall parking lot. Police arrived shortly thereafter and reportedly found two “very large males” running along the street. The police report obtained by Seattle PI said that an officer yelled for Moffit to stop, but the lineman looked right at him and ran into an apartment building.

A week later, Bellevue Square security guards were shown a photo of Moffitt and identified him as the dude who had taken a leak on a car. Moffitt was charged with criminal trespass and obstruction of justice. He had to miss Seahawks practice on Tuesday to appear in court for a hearing related to the incident.

But that wasn’t all. On Aug. 25, 2012, Moffitt was again caught trespassing at Lincoln Square mall in Bellevue, which is owned by the same company as Bellevue Square mall. He was reportedly escorted out of the bar and taken into custody.

“Once outside, two pairs of handcuffs were placed on Moffitt due to his large size and a recent shoulder injury,” a police report stated. “Both sets of handcuffs were checked for tightness, and all were double locked.”

The moral of the story is this: if you’re banned from a place for a year, find somewhere else to go. And if you absolutely must return for whatever reason, don’t piss on something when you get there.

Saints WR Joe Morgan arrested for DUI after reportedly sleeping in his car

Joe-Morgan-mug-shotNew Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Morgan was arrested in Jefferson Parish over the weekend and charged with driving while under the influence, only he wasn’t really driving at the time. It’s probably fair to assume that he was operating a vehicle at some point before officers took him into custody, but Morgan was reportedly taking a nap at the time of his arrest.

According to The Times-Picayune, State Police booked Morgan after someone called in a report about a disabled vehicle on the side of the highway early Saturday morning. A responding trooper reportedly found Morgan sleeping behind the wheel of his car and asked him to step out. The officer said the 25-year-old receiver was swaying on his feet, smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and seemed intoxicated.

It gets worse. Not only was Morgan deemed to be intoxicated after failing a field sobriety test, he also does not have a valid driver’s license.

Passed out on the side of the highway and drunk without a license? That’s what I call a double whammy.

Jose Canseco suspect in sexual assault case, deletes tweets about it

Jose-Canseco-Evicted-From-LA-HomeJose Canseco often entertains us by tweeting ridiculous things that seem to make very little sense, but a series of tweets he sent on Wednesday afternoon were no laughing matter. Canseco claimed he had been accused of rape, and police later confirmed he is indeed a suspect in a sexual assault case.

The former MLB slugger started out by saying that Las Vegas police had gone to his house and informed him that he has been charged with rape. Michael Rand of the Minneapolis Star Tribune was able to capture the following tweets before Canseco deleted them.

Canseco then proceeded to tweet and delete a picture of the woman he says accused him and challenged her to take a lie detector test. He also offered to take one himself and dared the woman to “tell the truth.” In a statement sent to Larry Brown Sports and other media outlets, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that Canseco has been named as a suspect in a sexual assault case.

“The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a Sexual Assault case,” the statement read. “Jose Conseco has been named as the suspect in this investigation. At this time no charges have been filed and our investigation remains ongoing. Per department policy neither victim information or investigation details are available for release.”

Canseco then turned his attention to his season debut with the United League Fort Worth Cats, which is scheduled for Thursday. Depending on how the story unfolds, it’s possible his career with the Cats could end before it begins.

Brothers claim they were assaulted taking picture of Damian Lillard

Damian LillardTwo brothers claim they were assaulted by members of Damian Lillard’s entouraged after taking a picture of Portland Trailblazers rookie, The Oregonian reports.

The brothers told KGW in Portland that they took a picture of Lillard as he was headed to a parking lot around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the Old Town area of Portland. One of the brothers said Lillard was upset and asked, “Did you just take my picture?”

“And his entourage just turned around too and they’re like ‘did you just take a picture of Damian Lillard?’ And I was like –and I said ‘Yeah, I did.’ And so I saw that he was clearly upset, they were upset and I was like, ‘Can I apologize to him? Like I’ll go up right now and apologize to him,’” the brother told KGW.

The brother said the issue turned into an all-out fight within minutes. The second brother says his nose was broken and he needed stitches in his lip after he was repeatedly punched and kicked in the fight.

The brothers reportedly were treated at the scene by Portland Fire & Rescue for facial injuries.

Though Lillard, who won the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award, reportedly was not involved in the alleged assault and is not a suspect, one of the brothers blames him for instigating the fight.

“Damian Lillard basically instigated it because he actually looked like he was going to go up to my brother and start fighting him. And since he did that, the rest of the guys started getting riled up too and like they thought it was okay to just start fighting out of nowhere,” the second brother told KGW.

Lillard was the sixth overall pick by the Blazers and averaged 19 points and 6.5 assists per game in his rookie campaign.

As The Oregonian points out, Lillard won an NBA community assist award in March for his “commitment to anti-bullying and his ongoing support of local, regional and national organizations that share his passion for promoting respect for all.’’

Akron CB Seth Cunningham accused of stealing bong in armed robbery

Seth Cunningham mug shotAkron senior cornerback Seth Cunningham was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly robbing a tobacco pipe store at gunpoint, The Medina-Gazette reports.

According to The Gazette, Brunswick police say Cunningham entered a 24-hour tobacco pipe store and waved a 9mm handgun in the air. He allegedly went to a display case and stole a water pipe (aka bong) valued at $447 and fled the store.

Police later spotted Cunningham in his truck sitting in the driveway of a home. They found Cunningham with the pipe and pistol. Fox 8 in Cleveland says he admitted to the robbery.

Cunningham was taken to the Medina County Jail. He posted a $30,000 bond on Wednesday and was released.

Fox 8 says Cunningham has been suspended indefinitely pending the outcome of the case.

So, I gotta ask, how do you think this whole thing went down? I’m guessing this guy was blazing late at night with the bros at the crib and talking about that awesome bong they always see at the store. He probably decided, “screw it, what’s mine is mine. I’m finally gonna jack it.” And he did. And he got busted. Smooth move.

Titus Young told ex-girlfriend I understand why OJ Simpson killed his wife

Titus Young mug shots

More and more disturbing news continues to come out about Titus Young.

The troubled former Detroit Lions wide receiver has been arrested three times in the past month, and his ex-girlfriend filed for a restraining order against him, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reports.

According to the PE’s John Asbury, Young’s ex-girlfriend filed for the restraining order on May 8, the day after it was widely reported that Young was arrested twice in one day the previous weekend.

Young’s ex, with whom he shares an 8-month-old son, was granted a temporary restraining order that requires Young to stay 100 yards away from her. The PE says the ex-girlfriend wrote in her filing that she is “afraid of what he is capable of doing.”

“He also has been in a mental help facility more than once and still believes that he does not have a problem,” she reportedly stated in the filing.

The ex-girlfriend, who lives in Moreno Valley, Calif., accuses Young of repeatedly waiting outside her home and threatening and harassing her.

“He would say things like, ‘I understand why O.J. killed his wife.’ He says. ‘We’re always gonna be a family and I’m always going to be his,’ ” the restraining order states, per the Press-Enterprise. “He got mad and yelled at my neighbors and tried to fight multiple people that he doesn’t even know.”

Young’s ex was also worried about him taking their son. She says he took their son and was headed to San Diego. He is accused of stealing items from a gas station in Laguna Hills while holding their son before his DUI arrest later that night.

Young’s father and the ex-girlfriend say the football player has a brain disorder. Young remains in custody after pleading not guilty to eight charges earlier this week.
