Buffalo Bills fan has OJ Simpson mug shot tattoo on his leg

OJ Simpson mug shot tattoo

Goodness gracious, this photo has just about everything that we love here at LBS. We’ve got O.J. Simpson, a tattoo, and a mug shot. That’s like hitting the LBS jackpot.

According to Sports Kings, diehard Buffalo Bills fan Bryan Labarron spent nine hours getting tattooed with this amazing image. In case you’re unfamiliar, this mug shot was the one taken on June 17, 1994, after Simpson was implicated in the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

Below is a side-by-side comparison of the tattoo and actual mug shot:

Does Kevin Durant’s new back tattoo have a spelling error? (Picture)

Kevin-Durant-back-tattoo

Kevin Durant recently put the finishing touches on his massive back tattoo, but there may be an error with the ink.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star shared a photo of one addition he made to the tattoo this week — a portrait of Jesus on the lower left of his back. He later added a bible verse to the right side, which Ball Don’t Lie identified as James 1:2-4:

“Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides,” the passage reads. “You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.”

Perhaps we are misreading the fancy font, but it certainly looks like the word “mature” is spelled “mautre” in the last line the photo Durant posted shows. Durant seems to take his tattoos quite seriously, so he can’t be happy if that is indeed a spelling error. We have seen tattoo type-O’s in the past, but they are pretty rare on an athlete’s body who makes nearly $20 million a year. Again, maybe we’re just reading it wrong.

UPDATE: It looks like we may have been reading it wrong. Durant later shared a close-up photo of the tattoo and it looks like “mature” was spelled correctly, though the writing was odd looking.

Kevin Durant is finishing his back tattoo (Picture)

Those who have never seen Kevin Durant without a basketball jersey on would probably be surprised to see how many tattoos he has. The Oklahoma City Thunder star is loaded with ink. Durant’s tattoos are mostly on his chest and back, so they can’t be seen while he’s on the court. A couple of years ago we showed you some of his tattoos and the explanations behind them, and it appears he is not done adding to the designs just yet.

Durant got a back tattoo that said “Maryland” across his shoulders with a religious figure underneath it nearly two years ago. You can see an image of the original tattoo here. On Monday, Durant wrote on Instagram that he is “finishing my back piece” and shared the photo you see above.

It looks like he has added a portrait of Jesus since our last update. The important thing is he continues to keep it classy, which isn’t a surprise. As long as he doesn’t get any terrifying back tattoos like this, fans have nothing to worry about.

Fan’s Floyd Mayweather Las Vegas tattoo is as elaborate as it gets

Floyd Mayweather tattoo

When it comes to fan tribute tattoos to an athlete, it doesn’t get much more elaborate than this.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. shared this picture on his Instagram account on Tuesday, and it’s clear this fan went all out with the tattoo dedicated to the boxer. You have Floyd in the middle with a boxing glove on one hand and his championship belt hanging over his shoulder. What looks like Floyd’s white Bentley is in the foreground, and the MGM Grand where Mayweather fights is in the background.

The back tattoo is an entire tribute to Las Vegas as well as Floyd. The famous “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign is on the top left, “Sin City” is inscribed at the top, as is a Route 66 highway sign. The Hard Rock Hotel guitar is in the middle, the Bellagio with the fountain spraying water is below that, and to the right is the Paris hotel’s balloon and what appears to be the Excalibur’s castle behind that. Also in the foreground is a roulette wheel, hand of cards showing a royal flush, dice, and some gambling chips.

This guy really didn’t leave anything out. How does it compare to all the other fan tribute tattoos we’ve shared here at LBS?

Rick Pitino gets a Louisville tattoo as promised (Pictures)

Rick-Pitino-Louisville-tattoo-1

One of the motivational tactics Rick Pitino decided to use with his 2013 national champion Louisville squad was the promise of a tattoo. Pitino promised his players that he would get a tattoo commemorating their tournament run if they ended up cutting down the nets, and the 60-year-old kept his word.

As you can see from the photo above that Louisville senior associate athletic director of media relations Kenny Klein posted on Friday morning, Pitino got a Louisville logo, the words “NCAA Champions” and his team’s 2012-2013 season record on his back left shoulder. Here’s another angle that gives you a better idea of how big the tattoo is:

Auburn grad Giancarlo Guida has massive Toomer’s Corner trees tattoo (Picture)

Toomers-Corner-back-tattoo

The oak trees that sit on the Auburn campus at Toomer’s Corner will be dressed in toilet paper one final time on Saturday after the football team’s spring game. Thanks to Harvey Updyke, the infamous tree poisoner who plead guilty to killing the 130-year-old oaks, the trees will soon be removed. But they will live on Giancarlo Guida’s back forever.

Guida, a 2002 Auburn graduate, recently got a giant mural tattooed on his back that includes the Toomer’s Corner oak trees.

“I thought that was a great way to capture the trees after that a**hole killed them,” he told The War Eagle Reader on Wednesday.

The rugby ball is there to represent what Guida called his “fraternity.” He played for the Auburn rugby team from 1998-2002 and helped the Tigers win the SEC Championship in 1999. He said his wife was in favor of the idea at first and encouraged him to go through with it, but added that she was unhappy with the result because she thought it would be much smaller.

Hey, at least it’s not nearly as bad as the back tattoo that a fan of Guida’s most hated rival has.

Mike Tyson is getting his infamous face tattoo removed (UPDATE: April Fools)

Mike Tyson is not the same ferocious fighter that he used to be. I wouldn’t go as far as to say Iron Mike has gone soft, but if someone told you in the 1980s that Tyson would be starring in comedy movies and doing interviews with Oprah in 25 years you would have laughed in their face. Not anymore.

Several unflattering moments defined the later years of Tyson’s career, the most notable of which was his decision to turn into a carnivore during a fight against Evander Holyfield. There’s also the frightening tattoo Tyson got on his face when his life really started to spiral out of control. He has since buried the hatchet with Holyfield, and Iron Mike tweeted on Monday that the infamous ink will soon be gone.

This will certainly make Tyson look less intimidating, but that’s probably what he’s going for. You don’t stand up for Lance Armstrong unless you have gotten in touch with your sensitive side, which seems to be the case for the former heavyweight champion. Good for Mike.

UPDATE: Annnnd I’ve been duped. That’s what happens when you let your guard down on April Fools. As @ticketscore pointed out on Twitter, Tyson later tweeted that he was joking and the tattoo is with him forever. Darn.
