Brock Lesnar in talks with Dana White about a UFC return?

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar is very much involved with WWE, but he’s also been the subject of many MMA rumors in the past few weeks. It sounds like those rumors might be for good reason.

Though Lesnar did not show up to UFC 168 as was rumored, UFC boss Dana White reportedly told LA Times reporter Lance Pugmire that he’s been in talks with Brock.

Many believe all the talk about Brock’s involvement with the UFC was just a publicity stunt. Brock has an exclusive contract with WWE for big money and low appearances. He’s expected to wrestle at WrestleMania in April. He hasn’t fought in the UFC since losing to Alistair Overeem a little over two years ago. Why would he want back in when the WWE is giving him a great deal? It doesn’t make much sense, regardless of the rumors.

The UFC, though, could really use Brock. He was their biggest pay-per-view draw and, with Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva out for the time being, they need more stars.

Ric Flair reportedly received death threats, will not attend Niners-Panthers game

Ric FlairRic Flair has somehow become a popular topic of discussion during the most exciting time of the year for NFL fans. The 64-year-old wrestling legend pumped up the San Francisco 49ers before their playoff game against the Green Bay Packers, and the Niners came away with a road win at Lambeau Field. As a result, Flair has fallen out of grace with Panthers fans.

Flair has lived in Charlotte and been a fan of the area’s sports teams, with his famous “wooo” formerly playing on the stadium scoreboard during Panthers game. Earlier this week, Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith ripped the Nature Boy for his support of the Niners. Apparently some Carolina fans have taken it to another level.

“When the 49ers reached out and WWE asked Ric to jet up there, of course he said yes,” Melinda Morris Zanoni, Flair’s agent at Legacy Talent and Entertainment, said in a statement. “And he’s friends with a bunch of the 49ers just like he is with the Panthers, Packers, and many other NFL players.  But no, Ric does not intend on attending the Panthers vs. 49ers game this weekend.”

As Tom Sorensen of the Charlotte Observer noted, Flair has also received death threats from Panthers fans since giving his pep talk to the 49ers. That’s a shame. You can understand Panthers fans being upset that Flair visited an opponent, but this should all be in good fun. Death threats are never good fun.

“We know fans are passionate about their teams, but some of the choice language we have been receiving is scaring off our interns,” Zanoni added.

Smith loves drama, which made him the perfect candidate to speak out against Flair. That being said, Flair has been an entertainer his entire life. He certainly doesn’t deserve to be threatened over a ridiculous pep talk.

Ronda Rousey said CM Punk was sexy

Ronda Rousey CM Punk

While most of you were watching the BCS National Championship Game, Ronda Rousey and many others were taking in “Old School Raw” in Baltimore on Monday night.

One of those people was MMA superstar Ronda Rousey, who tweeted that she thought Punk looked sexy.

As Rousey said, just when she called Punk sexy, he lost to Roman Reigns.

No response yet from Punk, at least that we know of. If I were Rousey, I might be worried about some backlash from Punk’s girlfriend AJ Lee, based on what happened to Michelle Beadle. Good thing Rousey can defend herself.

Steve Smith upset with Ric Flair for supporting 49ers

Ric FlairRic Flair has somehow become a divisive figure in the NFL playoffs, if you can believe that.

On Saturday night, Flair flew into Wisconsin on a private jet to give the San Francisco 49ers a pep talk prior to their playoff game against the Green Bay Packers. The Niners won the game 23-20, and some credited Flair for being the secret weapon.

Well Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith found out about Flair speaking to the Niners, and he is not happy.

Flair has lived in Charlotte and has been a fan of Charlotte’s sports teams. His “wooo” used to play on the scoreboard during Panthers games. Smith feels like Flair betrayed the Panthers by pumping up the Niners, who will visit Carolina on Sunday for their divisional playoff game.

“That San Francisco bridge has been burned,” Smith said on Monday via Charlotte Observer columnist Tom Sorenson.

Not only do the 49ers have Flair on their side now, but San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick says the Niners owe Carolina a loss from Week 10. We’ll see who comes out on top, and whether Flair makes it up to the Panthers.

Ric Flair speaks to 49ers before playoff game in ‘s— hole’ that is Green Bay

Ric Flair 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have a secret weapon entering their playoff game against the Green Bay Packers: The Nature Boy.

Wrestling legend Ric Flair visited the 49ers to speak with the team on Saturday night, the day before the team’s playoff game in Green Bay. We first learned about Flair’s visit through a tweet by Niners offensive lineman Anthony Davis, who called the city a “s— hole.”

Flair apparently took a private jet and stretch limo to go speak to the Niners, who are holed up in sub-zero temperatures in Wisconsin. You think The Nature Boy is going to let a little bad weather keep him from delivering a pep talk to a football team? Not a chance. Wooooo!

John Cena and The Rock offer to give LeBron James WWE championship belt

John Cena WWE belt

LeBron James wants a WWE championship belt, and a couple of wrestling stars are willing to hook him up.

LeBron watched his beloved Dallas Cowboys lose to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night 24-22 to end their season. After the game, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, who won the NFL rushing title, had a WWE championship belt on his shoulder to celebrate both of his victories. Seeing the blinging belt inspired LeBron to send this tweet:

Don’t worry, LeBron, John Cena has you covered:

And The Rock one-upped Cena. He says he’ll get LeBron a belt in a day!

This belt business is really catching on. Last season the Phoenix Coyotes began handing out a championship belt to their player of the game. Two years ago the St. Mary’s basketball team wore T-shirts with belts on them. Earlier this month Derek Carr put on a belt after Fresno State won the Mountain West Conference. And, of course, there is Aaron Rodgers, who does the championship belt celebration after touchdowns and put one on after winning the Super Bowl.

It’s all great in terms of promotion for the WWE. And those belts really are slick, too. I think LBS needs one. Can the WWE hook that up?

Brock Lesnar making UFC return? He supposedly will attend UFC 168

Brock Lesnar UFCIs Brock Lesnar making some sort of UFC return? That’s the hot gossip.

MMA Fighting said on Thursday there have been rumors all week that Lesnar, the former UFC heavyweight champion and current WWE star, would be attending the big UFC 168 show in Las Vegas on Saturday.

During a media scrum on Thursday, UFC boss Dana White was asked about Lesnar attending the show. White tried to play dumb and say he did not know why Lesnar would be attending, but he looked down when he said that and had a sly grin on his face. It was pretty obvious that he was hiding something.

You can watch the video below via MMA Junkie:

Lesnar hasn’t fought since losing to Alistair Overeem two years ago at UFC 141. Lesnar said after the fight that he was retiring from the UFC. He cited his diverticulitis as one of the reasons for stepping away from the sport.

The last time Lesnar showed up to attend a fight card was last year for UFC 146. Lesnar supposedly was interested in a return that time, but the meeting between him and White went terribly, according to White.

If you follow the pattern, it seems like Lesnar attends fights when he’s interested in becoming involved with the organization. And even if he doesn’t make a comeback, just having his name out there and associated with the company is good for UFC business.
