I hadn’t seen this video of Panthers special-teamer Dante Wesley laying out Clifton Smith of the Buccaneers on a punt return until late Monday night but it’s already caused a stir. As the title implies, this is one of the dirtiest hits you’ll ever see and also why the halo and fair catch rules were implemented. Unfortunately Wesley completely ignored the rules and absolutely leveled Smith, resulting in an instant ejection. Check it out:

Wesley has been suspended a game without pay for his hit that caused a concussion and throat injury to Smith. I don’t care if they say he wasn’t doing it intentionally, you simply cannot do that; this isn’t Nam, Wesley, there are rules in the NFL. And check out coach John Fox’s attorney-at-large response, “It’s no different than driving to work and putting your brakes on. Sometimes accidents happen.” That’s putting it mildly, sir. Speaking of the Panthers, how about Steve Smith’s comments that he’s no longer an asset to the team? That tends to happen with a quarterback like jake Delhomme who’s become atrocious.

I’m usually not the gory type, but this is just so ridiculous it most be posted. Check out this video SI Hot Clicks linked to of how Seahawks fullback Owen Schmitt got himself all bloodied prior to the game with the Jaguars Sunday. Pure gross stuff:

That video reminded me of John Henderson’s pre-game routine from the Jaguars. Honestly, there’s no way to see that video and not conclude that most of these players have some sort of chemical imbalance to do the crazy things they do. That dude is purely nuts.

A few weeks ago Clemson lost on national TV to Georgia Tech but most of the sports world was watching the Titans and Steelers kick off the season. We’ve already touched on the bogus holding call that really screwed Clemson towards the end of the game. No doubt that call pissed a lot of Clemson fans off, but nobody may have been more upset with the outcome of the game than this Clemson fan right here.

Yes, that was Chris Fowler, Chris James, and Jesse Palmer making fun of the kid off-air. Something tells me it wasn’t just the holding call that had him pissed off. Thanks to Hot Clicks for passing along the video.

Cardinals Minor Leaguer Casey Mulligan Does Thriller Dance During Rain Delay

I must be a generation late or something because when I saw this video I thought to myself, “cool, he’s doing the Ferris Bueller dance.” Anyway, we’ve come to find out that rain delays in baseball create some funny moments during the down time and this is no exception. That ass-shake on the 1:15 mark was pretty impressive. I wonder what the team in the opposing dugout was thinking while watching it the whole time.

Jets All-Pro DE Schmoolie Jackson on the Jets Schedule Conflicting with Holidays

So not long ago when the NFL schedule was released, the Jets caused a fuss because two of their home games coincided with two of the holiest Jewish holidays. They complained to the league office and got one of their games bumped up from a 4:15pm ET start on Sunday to 1:00pm ET. From what I understand, the league office was moved by an impassioned speech by Jets All-Pro DE Schmoolie Jackson. Check it out:

He had me at Bubby. Gotta feel for a guy who had to miss his cousin’s bar mitzvah, you know? Thanks to my Uncle Al for passing that hilarious Jimmy Kimmel clip along. By the way, I’ve heard that Jackson wasn’t too happy when the Jets brought on Mangini and switched to the 3-4 defense since the 4-3 fit his style much better.

Guitar Hero Commercial Video: Bob Knight Throws a Chair at Metallica

Guitar Hero has outdone itself once again. First they had the rockin commercial with Alex Rodriguez, Kobe Bryant, Michael Phelps, and Tony Hawk. And this time, as if the timing couldn’t be any better, they unveiled another star-studded commercial featuring figures from the sports world. I’m not sure it gets much better than Mike Krzyzewski, Roy Williams, Rick Pitino, and Bob Knight collaborating on a Guitar Hero commercial. With Metallica, no less. And in case you missed it, here it is:

“Who are you calling pops?” Lol. I say one more commercial would be too many. This was quite a pleasant surprise, leave it at this. Very nicely done, once again, Guitar Hero.

Video: Manu Ginobili Smooches with Ian Mahinmi on Spurs Kiss Cam

Manu Ginobili returned to the Spurs on Wednesday after missing 19 games with an ankle injury. It wasn’t much of a return considering he went 1-7 from the field, but it was still a welcome addition to a team that needed the spark. Well, on Tuesday night Ginobili was sitting behind the Spurs’ bench in a suit, rooting on his team. I was watching the game on TV but obviously missed this hilarious moment. Ginobili got picked for the kiss cam, sharing the screen with teammate Ian Mahinmi. Check out the hilarity that ensued:

Who said the master flopper didn’t have any personality?! The Spurs are all about the surprises. And Manu better get his game sharp because he looked awful on Wednesday. They’re going to need him at his best if they’re going to have a prayer at knocking off the Lakers, otherwise they’ll be crushed.

Bucks Mascot Bongo Gets Hit in Nuts, Injures Knee in the Process

I’ve made no secret of my fondness for stories involving team mascots. This one is certainly up there. With Andrew Bogut, Michael Redd, and Luke Ridnour out with various injuries, Bucks’ mascot Bongo must have sensed the players were feeling lonely on the injured list. He decided to help make them feel better in the best way possible — by joining their company. Check out this little stunt from the All-Star game in Phoenix. Keep your eye on the mascot doing the Spiderman impression that gets hit in the nuts. That’s Bongo.

As, Jimmy at SI pointed out, I still can’t believe the effin’ thing fit through the freaking hoop! Usually the mascot heads are so fat they would never fit. I’m just astonished. Oh, and as you could tell, Bongo hurt his knee with those shenanigans and will now require surgery. Way to go, Bongo. Hopefully the Bucks have a good health insurance policy for you.

That massacre prevented a 4A playoff game between Montgomery’s G.W. Carver High School and Valley High from even finishing. I just wanna know who the pussies in the first rows of the stands were, and what their reasoning for failing to mob the court was. What were they waiting for? Additionally, let this be a lesson to the baggy pants community: that is why you must wear a belt at all times.
