Baylor slowed by Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles?

Roscoes Chicken Waffles

Baylor’s basketball team chowed down on some Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in Long Beach upon arriving in Los Angeles Tuesday night for their Sweet 16 game against Wisconsin on Thursday, and they sure looked like they had eaten all that food before the game, too.

The Bears were smacked by the Badgers 69-52 and never stood a chance. They were held to just 16 points in the first half. Wisconsin big man Frank Kaminsky went for 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting against them, while blocking six shots.

But let’s get back to Roscoe’s.

Baylor senior guard Gary Franklin, who is from Inglewood in Calif., told coach Scott Drew that the team had to go to Roscoe’s, the iconic Chicken and Waffles house that has a few locations throughout Southern California, upon arriving in town. They didn’t get into LA until 11 p.m. according to My San Antonio, but that didn’t stop them from grabbing some grub. They ended up staying at the restaurant until early Wednesday morning and had their first practice at the Honda Center in Anaheim later in the day.

It sounds like they didn’t exactly have the best travel routine prior to Thursday night’s game. And maybe some more of their guys had food coma during the game.

“I was in a food coma, so I was able to sleep better,” Franklin told My San Antonio Wednesday.

Franklin went 2-for-8 for 4 points in 18 minutes off the bench. His teammates didn’t do much better; they shot 31.6 percent from the floor.
