Bobby Hurley hired by Arizona State
Bobby Hurley has been hired by Arizona State to be their new head basketball coach, the school announced Thursday.
Hurley, 43, had been the coach at Buffalo the past two seasons and led the Bulls to the tournament last season.
“With Bobby at the helm, we will provide the necessary resources to compete within our state, our conference and across the nation,” ASU athletic director Ray Anderson said in a statement. “We are intent on becoming an elite men’s basketball program.”
Hurley replaces Herb Sendek, who was fired by the Sun Devils after nine seasons. Hurley is the program’s second choice as coach as Duke assistant Jeff Capel recently turned down the position. He is expected to be introduced at a press conference on Friday.
