Buffalo G Wes Clark calls out Kentucky, ESPN after upset win over Arizona

Buffalo guard Wes Clark had a little extra spring in his step following Thursday’s shocking upset victory over Arizona.

After Clark and the No. 13-seeded Bulls stunned the Wildcats by the final of 89-68 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the senior called out both Kentucky (who is now set to play Buffalo in the Round of 32) and ESPN.

“I have a lot of history with those Kentucky guys. I’m trying to redeem myself a little bit,” said Clark, per Kentucky.com’s Jerry Tipton. “I’ve done played them a lot, and they’ve done dominated me. I’m not feeling too good about that. So I got a little chip on my shoulder. Yeah, I got to get at those boys.”

Clark then set his sights on The Worldwide Leader.

“I was watching SportsCenter,” he added. “And they were already counting the next game as Kentucky and Arizona. We were just looking at that like, ‘Are we not basketball players? Are we not on the floor?’ So we had that chip on our shoulders going out there, and we’re going to keep that chip.”

As incredible as the Arizona upset was, the UK matchup indeed has particular significance for Clark, who used to play in the SEC. He spent his first three collegiate seasons with Missouri, a period over which the Tigers went 0-4 against Kentucky, losing by a combined total of 104 points. Clark was later dismissed by Mizzou for academic reasons and sat out the 2016-17 season. He then transferred to Buffalo for his last year of eligibility and has found a home there, becoming one of the team’s leading scorers with 15.0 points per game.

Twitter absolutely loved seeing Clark and the Bulls pull the Round 1 shocker, and now they will be focused on upsetting a second straight Wildcats team.
