Buzz Williams grabs mic, reprimands Virginia Tech fans for cursing
Buzz Williams’ Virginia Tech Hokies pulled off an upset win over Duke on Monday night, but not everything about the night was positive for Williams.
The Hokies head coach felt compelled to address the home crowd in the last few minutes of the game to reprimand the fans for cursing and throwing things. He walked over to the PA and grabbed the mic with about three minutes left in the game.
“Guys, quit cussing,” Williams said. “And don’t throw anything on the floor regardless of what’s happened.”

The fans were upset with a foul that was called on Virginia Tech to send Duke’s Grayson Allen to the free throw line. After the foul, fans in the student section were heard chanting, “bulls—.” That’s what prompted Williams to grab the mic.
Tech won the game 64-63 and is now 21-9 on the season.
