KU F Carlton Bragg’s suspension over as girlfriend charged for battery
Kansas forward Carlton Bragg had a battery charge against him dropped on Wednesday, while prosecutors will instead charge his girlfriend with battery after video showed she was the aggressor in an incident between them.
Bragg, a sophomore, had been suspended indefinitely as authorities investigated a claim from his girlfriend saying the ballplayer struck her and pushed her down the stairs during an incident last week. However, video showed the two had an argument and that the woman initiated the physical contact by slapping Bragg multiple times and putting her hands near his neck before he shoved her in self defense, causing her to fall down the stairs. The woman had confronted Bragg with an accusation of him trying to sleep with another woman.
In a statement, Bragg said the matter has been “humiliating” for him.
“This has been a difficult and humiliating experience for me, and I’m glad it’s over. I appreciate the authorities taking the time to get this right. I also appreciate the support of my teammates and coaches, and I’m glad I can put this behind me and move forward.”
Kansas head coach Bill Self said he was proud of the way Bragg handled himself throughout the situation.
