CSUN screwed on charge call in final seconds (Video)

Cal State Northridge lost to Cal Poly 61-59 on Saturday night in the finals of the Big West Tournament, and a bad call in the final seconds of the game did not help their cause.

With the Matadors down 60-59 following a Mustangs 3-pointer, Tre Hale-Edmerson took a pass on a pick and roll, cut into the paint and made 10-foot jump shot. Unfortunately, Hale-Edmerson was called for a charge, which nullified the basket and gave the ball back to Cal Poly. The Mustangs were fouled, made 1-of-2 at the line, and won 61-59 to earn the automatic berth from the conference.

Cal Poly (13-17) became the lowest seed to win the conference tourney (they were the seven seed) and will almost certainly be headed to Dayton for the play-in game.

Cal Poly CSUN charge

But about that call. That was just brutal. Zach Gordon wasn’t even set when the two collided, yet he got the call. Man, that’s some bad luck for CSUN.
