Greg Anthony suspended by CBS, Turner Sports for soliciting prostitute

Greg Anthony

College basketball analyst Greg Anthony was suspended by CBS and Turner Sports after being arrested Friday night in Washington, D.C. for soliciting a prostitute.

Police say Anthony solicited a prostitute through a website and was arrested after offering to pay money in exchange for sex. The former UNLV point guard tried to arrange things from his hotel room at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Downtown DC. He was busted as part of a prostitution sting operation.

Anthony was in the area to broadcast the Michigan State-Maryland game Saturday for CBS but was pulled from the broadcast and suspended.

“He has been suspended indefinitely,” CBS said in a statement.

Turner Sports also suspended Anthony.

“Greg Anthony has been suspended indefinitely. We will have no further comments at this time,” the company said in a statement.

In addition to playing 11 seasons in the NBA, Anthony has been very active in politics and aspired to be a state senator. He has long been a backer of the Republican party.

Anthony was released from custody Friday and faces 90 days in jail if convicted. Anthony issued a statement apologizing for his arrest.

“I made a mistake,” Anthony said in a statement. “With this lapse of judgment, I embarrassed many, including myself. I will work to regain the trust that I have lost, and the first step is saying that I am sorry.”

Anthony is married and has one child with his wife. He has three other children from previous relationships.
