Indiana is not playing in the CBI because they’re Indiana

Tom CreanIndiana finished the season a disappointing 17-15, which included a 7-11 record in conference play. That sort of thing will happen when your best players leave for the NBA, as Kentucky’s John Calipari will tell you.

Even though 17-15 is just a shade over .500, it’s still a good enough record to get you into the postseason in college basketball. Unfortunately, Indiana being the elite program that it is, will not lower itself to compete in anything other than the NCAA Tournament or NIT.

Athletic Director Fred Glass had this great quote in explaining why Indiana wouldn’t be participating in the CBI, which schools have to pay to play in.

“Finances wouldn’t be an issue if we thought it made sense,” Glass told The Indianapolis Star. “But we’re Indiana. We don’t play in the CBI.”

You’re damn right Indiana doesn’t play in the CBI. Now you just have to get that program right to make sure you are playing in the NCAA Tournament next year. You can only be too good for something if you are too good for something, you know what I mean? I know Crab Man agrees.
