Mike Brey hoping Notre Dame fans ‘can get out of jail’ to see game

Mike Brey

Notre Dame coach Mike Brey is expecting some rowdy Notre Dame fans to have a very eventful St. Patrick’s Day.

Brey joked Friday that he hopes the Fighting Irish fans in South Bend — as well as those who have made the trip to Buffalo — are able to get out of jail after the St. Patrick’s Day festivities are complete.

“This town is a good N.D. town,” Brey said, via John Vogl of the Buffalo News. “Over 17 years, I’ve run into people from here that are big N.D. fans, whether alums or subway alums. I hope they can get out of jail by 8 a.m. tomorrow to come to our game because they’re rolling today, I can tell you that much.

“Matter of fact, we have some extra bail money just to make sure we can get them out. We know what happens with the Irish on a day like today.”

That sort of craziness would certainly be one way to get Notre Dame into the spotlight more. If the Fighting Irish beat West Virginia on Saturday to move to the Sweet Sixteen, that party could get pretty wild.
