Missouri basketball vacates 2013-14 season after finding multiple rules violations

frank-haith

The Missouri basketball program has been forced to vacate the entire 2013-14 season due to rules violations.

The violations occurred under former coach Frank Haith, and involved two donors offering impermissible benefits to Missouri players, according to an official school statement.

The school has taken action against both donors, as well as a former associate coach who was involved in setting a player up with one of the donors. They’ve also stripped themselves of two scholarships and imposed a one year postseason ban, which will prevent Missouri from appearing in the SEC or NCAA Tournament. It was highly unlikely they were going to make it to the latter anyway.

The school will vacate 23 wins in 2013-14, a season that saw Missouri eventually fall in the second round of the NIT.
