North Carolina rebounds its way to title game

North Carolina rebound

North Carolina advanced to Monday’s championship game with a 77-76 win over Oregon in the Final Four Saturday, but they did so in ugly fashion at the end.

The Tar Heels missed its final four free throws to nearly blow the game against the Ducks, but they got two offensive rebounds to seal the victory.

Both teams had 43 rebounds in the game, but Oregon failed to get the most important ones. Their inability to get a rebound in the final seconds after North Carolina’s free throw misses prevented them from having a chance to win the game.

17 of North Carolina’s rebounds were on the offensive end, giving them 19 second-chance points. Kennedy Meeks led the way with 25 points and 14 rebounds.

Though Elite Eight stud Jordan Bell grabbed 16 boards for Oregon, the Ducks truly missed big man Chris Boucher in this one. Boucher tore his ACL in the Pac-12 Tournament and missed the entire NCAA Tournament.
