Referees give Duke, Justise Winslow two controversial calls late (Video)

Duke beat Wisconsin on Monday night for the national championship, and they did so with the help of a few calls from the officials late in the game.

With Duke leading 59-58 and 3:20 to play, Justise Winslow took an inbounds pass and drove towards the basket. He didn’t have anywhere to go, and he started to fall out of bounds under the basket. He managed to pass the ball to Jahlil Okafor who got a clutch basket, foul and missed a free throw to make it 61-58.

This screenshot shows that Winslow was out of bounds before making the pass (via @WorldofIsaac):

Then at 63-58 with under two minutes left, Bronson Koenig missed a layup and there was a scramble for the ball. Winslow last tipped the ball as it went out of bounds, but the referees still gave the ball to Duke.

The replay cannot be any more clear than this:

Between these two poor calls and some of the other calls we saw in the Wisconsin-Kentucky game, the officiating was pretty terrible in the Final Four.
