Rex Chapman not charged for shoplifting, will call Final Four

Rex Chapman

Former Kentucky basketball star Rex Chapman is free to travel to the Final Four in Indianapolis because he has not been charged for allegedly stealing and selling $14,000 of merchandise from an Apple store.

Chapman was caught on video in September stealing the goods from a store in Scottsdale, Ariz., and was accused of selling it at a local pawn shop. Prosecutors did not file charges, shockingly, and sent the case back to police for further investigation, WDRB reports.

Chapman played at UK for two seasons and will be providing commentary for Turner Sports’ “local” broadcast option of the Kentucky-Wisconsin Final Four game. The former NBA player remains a popular voice in the media despite his legal troubles, which led him to enter a substance abuse program last year.
