Sterling Gibbs ejected for vicious blow to head of Ryan Arcidiacono (Video)
Seton Hall junior Sterling Gibbs was ejected late in the second half of Monday’s game against Villanova for a vicious blow to the head of Wildcats junior Ryan Arcidiacono.
With the ball loose on the floor, Arcidiacono was attempting to regain possession when Gibbs struck him in the head with his forearm. Gibbs was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul and subsequently ejected from the game.
That was about as blatant a cheap shot as you’ll see. There was no attempt to go for the ball and Gibbs can most certainly expect a suspension to be handed down from the Big East Conference as there is absolutely no place for that type of behavior.
After the game, Gibbs tweeted an apology to Arcidiacono for his actions.
