Tennessee F Jarnell Stokes called for controversial charge (Video)
Tennessee’s stunning comeback against Michigan in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament Friday fell short after forward Jarnell Stokes was called for a controversial charge with six seconds left in the game.
The Vols were down by 10 with under four minutes to play and rallied to make it a 1-point game with 13 seconds left. They had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the game when they took the ball out from under Michigan’s basket with 9.6 seconds left.
Stokes came around a screen set by Jordan McRae and made a move to the basket, but there was contact and he was called for a charge. The charge gave the Wolverines the ball, and they held on for the 73-71 win.
Though many people will complain about the referees deciding the game, I thought that was actually the correct call. And so did everyone who had Michigan -2.
