Baker Mayfield defends Kyler Murray after apparent snub
Kyler Murray has huge shoes to fill at Oklahoma this upcoming season, and the Heisman Trophy winner he is replacing believes the two-sport star is more than capable of filling them.
College football analyst Phil Steele recently released his 2018 magazine preview, and in it he ranks the top 55 quarterback groups in the country. As Scott Bell of the Dallas Morning News highlighted, three Texas schools — Texas, SMU and Texas A&M — are all ranked ahead of Oklahoma, which came in at No. 39. Baker Mayfield sees that as a sign of disrespect toward Murray.

Mayfield has gone out of his way to pump up Murray, even predicting that Murray will break all of his records with the Sooners. However, that is going to be difficult to do since Murray is only expected to spend one season as Oklahoma’s starting quarterback. The 20-year-old was drafted by the Oakland A’s and is set to make some serious money playing pro baseball.
