Report: Baker Mayfield has no energy at practice due to illness
The health of Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield is quickly becoming a major story ahead of Monday’s College Football Playoff semifinal.
The Sooners have been tight-lipped on Mayfield’s status, but it is known that he is ill. On Saturday, he was absent for Rose Bowl Media Day, the fourth consecutive day he missed a scheduled off-field event.

Tony Barnhart of the SEC Network cited source close to the Sooner program saying that, while Mayfield was practicing, he was definitely feeling the effects of his illness.

Despite his health issues, there’s pretty much no way Mayfield won’t be playing in the national semifinal. His teammates have said as much. It’s just a question of how healthy he can get ahead of Monday’s game.
