Baker Mayfield rips analyst over Oklahoma tweet
Though Baker Mayfield is now in the NFL, he will always be ride or die for his alma mater.
The Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback took exception to a tweet about the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday from Bleacher Report NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller. The tweet from Miller read, “I text an area scout, ‘Does watching Kyler Murray make you wonder how much of Baker’s success was coaching?’ Reply: ‘I’d be s—ting bricks right now.'”
Mayfield, the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, soon fired back, defending Murray while also calling OU head coach Lincoln Riley “the best coach in the country.” He then called Miller out for his ignorance and lack of knowledge.
Lincoln is the best coach in the country. But you’re ignorant if you think Kyler isn’t talented. Pure ignorance. Not your first take that shows your lack of actual knowledge.

The exchange comes in the wake of a 37-27 win by the No. 5-ranked Sooners on Saturday over the Iowa State Cyclones, improving them to a perfect 3-0 on the year. Murray threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns in the victory and also added 77 yards on the ground. The junior is quickly establishing himself as a favorite to win the Heisman, which Mayfield took home last season.
Mayfield has gone out of his way to defend his successor in the recent past, and it’s clear that no Sooner slander will fly on his watch.
