BC WR Alex Amidon may choose Navy SEALs over NFL

Alex Amidon BCAlex Amidon, one of the most prolific wide receivers in Boston College history, may choose to pursue a career as a Navy SEAL instead of NFL player.

BC Interruption reported Thursday that Amidon is set to try becoming a Navy SEAL now that his college career is over, though The Boston Globe now says nothing has been decided yet.

Amidon scored 18 touchdowns during his BC playing career. He caught 78 passes for 1,210 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2012 and 77 passes for 1,032 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2013. He holds school records for single-season receiving yards as well as career receptions and receiving yards.

Amidon was not invited to the NFL Combine, but NFL.com says he is a potential third-day draft pick.

The Navy SEALS have a 61-week training program and a dropout rate of around 90 percent.
